INTRODUCTION

Good day! My name is Mr. Lee Cunado. I have been working as the general manager of English Drs Academy, Inc. for more than 8 years.
As the general manager, I oversee the day-to-day activities and dealings in the academy. I am tasked mainly with handling new students on their first day of school, arranging the students’ class schedules which include choosing their teachers, books and classroom assignments for their 1:4 (group) and 1:1 classes. I also take care of class schedule changes and oversee how teachers conduct their classes. I see to it that the students’ needs are addressed and that the teachers are providing the best English language education to all our students.

NEW STUDENTS’ FIRST-DAY SCHEDULE

1. Entrance Exam and Interview
On the student’s first day, in the morning, new students are required to take the entrance exam so that their initial level in English may be evaluated. After the 1-hour entrance exam, the new student will have an interview in English which takes around 10~15 minutes. From the results of the entrance exam and the interview, the English level of the new student will be determined in terms of their skills in Listening, Speaking, Writing, Reading and Grammar.

2. Orientation
Next, they attend an orientation about the school rules and regulations. The orientation takes about 1 ½ hours. The new students are asked to sign an agreement form after the orientation to signify their promise to follow the school rules and regulations.

CHANGING CLASS SCHEDULE

As part of the students’ orientation, they are oriented as to how they can change their class schedules. The first week of the students’ study period is their trial period for all their classes. If they wish to change teachers or classes then they are instructed to tell the office about their plans and may even ask the office for recommendations.
Every Thursday afternoon from 1 PM – 5 PM, students may request for a class schedule change. They are asked to fill out a slip of paper which indicates from which class and to what class they want to transfer to. If a teacher receives multiple requests from students for the same class, they are asked to choose one slip from all the requests (like a raffle).
On Friday, students may view the tentative class schedule for the next week. If some students still want to request for a schedule change, they just tell the office and if possible, changes to their schedule are immediately done. The new class schedule takes effect the following week. Furthermore, students may change their class schedules every week.

SCHOOL SANCTIONS

When students unfortunately break the school rules and regulations, the school follows a process in terms of sanctions or punishment:
For their first offense, the student is given a warning letter which states their offense and reminds them not to break the school rules.
For the second offense, the student is given a warning letter and has a consultation with the school director.
For the third offense, the student is given a final warning letter and is already eligible for expulsion from the school.
